Future GMS2 Development (People Wanted!)


Let's talk about some things.

For now, this project is being designed in RPGMaker MV. In the future, I would love to build this game from the ground up with my own engine alongside some talented original art (and maybe even music) in GameMaker Studio 2. This will greatly lengthen development time, but I believe it is far more worth it in the end in order to fully realize the goals of this project.

GMS2 is a fantastic software that I know inside and out. It is far more stable and open then RMMV's WebGL/PIXI Engine, allowing many more possibilities (Especially without being bogged down by extra unused assets/code/etc. with every extract). However, RMMV provides an amazing starting point for getting started quickly as a result of it being tailored for RPG style games. (GMS2 is also great at this, just not quite to the same extent as it is closer to a general-purpose design software)

The main reason all development has been done in RMMV and not GMS2 is that I am no artist. RPGMaker MV's assets make a great tool to get stuff going quickly. It is a great way to show ideas, concepts, and designs without spending ages building top-down engines. (Although I intend on doing this in the future...) Although I could theoretically pull assets from RMMV and use them in GMS2, that is prohibited by the RMMV EULA.
